Mazey the Dinosaur
A downloadable game for Windows
Move: Arrow keys.
Optional keys are listed in ReadMe.
Casually guide Mazey the Dinosaur through one maze after another, each created "on-the-fly".
Contains one magic sound effect that plays when mazes are being created.
Mazes are generated with a randomized Kruskal algorithm. This type of maze has no bias in terms of direction, but they tend to contain many short hallways that branch from the critical path; therefore, you can often guide Mazey through the maze by sensing the longest path.
I wanted to do much more with this game, but I chose to move to a new project after finally getting this one to work. I kind of like the simplicity of it anyway. I also considered using this game as a template for a game I was planning to call Halt, which was going to be about a Robin Hood character who gets chased by guards through potentially-unsolvable mazes. The player would decide ahead of time if their character should collect coins along the critical path of the maze, or if they should bail and go around it altogether to avoid being caught at a dead end. Obviously, the project was halted (haaaaa).
