This is an idea I am archiving here. It may see the light some day. Note: can't tell if art skills declining or understanding of modern art inclining.

Dazzle's Casino

Characters:

Dazzle: Devil-looking figure (gator? something like Bowser without a shell) who brings out the greed in others; he's bedazzled here and there;

Cactus: Revolver-totin' cactus; speaks broken Spanish; he looks like a Cactuar from Final Fantasy or Spike from Brawl Stars.

Crows: Crows lost in greed; keep trying to win gold in the casino;

Story:

Cactus arrives at a ghost town. All he wants is information regarding his mule, Emile, (eh-MEEL) who's gone missing. He steps into Dazzle's Casino to ask questions. Instead of answers, he finds a virtual world of sin. Dazzle tells him he knows something about Emile, but he won't talk unless Cactus pays "a hefty sack o' gold". Cactus explains that he's a broke drifter. Dazzle says Cactus can pay with virtual gold. If you win a match in his arena shooter game, Triple-6-Shooter (or whatever), you get virtual gold. He flips a coin to Cactus and tells him the first round's on the house. (Note: Dazzle just wants to see people become greedy and die. He doesn't need money.) After a few victories, Cactus figures out that death in the game means death in real life. He faces a moral dilemma. If Cactus manages to bring Dazzle the gold, Dazzle says something like the following before proceeding to fight him:

"Well done, amigo. Well done. Don't it feel good to make a killing? Anyhow, a deal's a deal. Lemme tell ya all about that mule of yours. Ya see... when I saw him mosey-in' through town, I thought, 'Poor thing needs a rest. He's liable to die out in this heat.' So being the fine guy I am, I put him out of his misery. Made me a nice pair of boots, too. Heh!"

In the credits after defeating Dazzle, Cactus walks out of town with his Emile boots underfoot. If no fear of copyright, play "These Boots are Made for Walkin'" by Nancy Sinatra.

Gameplay/Other Specifics:

Twin-stick arena shooter, interrupted every few levels with an encouraging speech by Dazzle.

After shooting a crow, its body freezes in time for a second before exploding into pixels. After each wave, a slot machine rolls and awards you gold based on the result. Sound is important. Needs powerful revolver gunshots and a slot machine roll that sounds like the item roulette in Mario Kart 64. Cactus should talk like an Animal Crossing character, but his text should be broken/incorrect Spanish, such as "El diablo no amigo. I prohibidabido! Mi hee-haw Emile go adios."
